Italian finishes — Venetian stucco, marmorino, travertino — are lime-based plasters burnished in thin layers. The result is a cool, deep, almost stone-like surface with a soft sheen. They suit formal living rooms, feature walls and reception areas.
Turkish finishes lean warmer and more textured. They are typically thicker, with visible trowel movement and earthy pigments, and they sit beautifully in bedrooms, hospitality spaces and anywhere you want a tactile, relaxed mood.
Practically: Italian finishes need a perfectly skimmed substrate and a skilled hand, so they cost more per square metre. Turkish finishes are more forgiving and forgiving of movement.
Both need a properly screeded, dust-free wall. This is the part most jobs get wrong.
